TAURINE

An amino sulfonic acid, which is a required building block of protein. Found naturally in the body as well as in meat, fish, and dairy products. Supports cardiovascular, metabolic, muscle and eye health. Taurine is a metabolic aid and contains antioxidant properties.

Quick facts

Safety: Taurine is considered safe for most people when taken as a supplement in recommended doses. Studies have shown that even high doses of taurine for extended periods (up to several grams per day) do not result in significant side effects or toxicity. The most commonly recommended doses in studies range from 1 to 3 grams per day; doses up to 6 grams per day for short periods have been used without apparent harm. Always consult with a trusted healthcare provider before starting any new supplement, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking other medications.

Overview: Taurine plays a role in several essential body functions, such as bile salt formation, eye health, heart function, and the development and function of skeletal muscle, the central nervous system, and the cardiovascular system. Its wide-ranging roles in cellular and physiological processes could influence both aging and lifespan.
